Inside Every Phoenix Crafted Candle

Why Coconut Soy & Beeswax?

A candle is only as good as the wax carrying its flame. Our signature blend combines coconut wax, soy wax, and beeswax because each contributes something different—and together they create the smooth appearance, balanced burn, fragrance performance, and substantial feel we want every Phoenix Crafted candle to deliver.

Why We Use a Blend

One wax alone could not give us everything we wanted.

Coconut wax brings softness and fragrance performance. Soy wax contributes balance and body. Beeswax adds firmness and heat stability. Blending them allows us to fine-tune the candle rather than accepting the limitations of a single wax.

The result is a wax foundation designed to complement premium fragrance oils, support carefully matched cotton or wood wicks, and perform consistently in the vessels we select. Every fragrance still requires testing because scent, wick, vessel diameter, and room conditions can change how a candle burns.

01

Performance balance instead of relying on one wax to do every job.

02

Fragrance expression from the first cold impression through the full melt pool.

03

Structural stability for a smooth, substantial candle suited to multiple vessel styles.

Three Ingredients, One Purpose

What each wax contributes

Each component earns its place in the blend. None is included simply because it sounds appealing on a label.

01

Coconut Wax

Creaminess & fragrance performance

  • Creates a soft, creamy visual finish.
  • Helps hold and release fragrance effectively.
  • Supports a slower, more measured burn when properly wicked.
  • Adds flexibility so the finished wax is less brittle.
  • Provides a plant-derived foundation for the blend.

02

Soy Wax

Balance & dependable body

  • Adds structure without making the wax overly hard.
  • Supports a controlled melt pool and steady burn profile.
  • Blends well with coconut wax and beeswax.
  • Helps create a consistent base for fragrance testing.
  • Contributes another renewable, plant-derived component.

03

Beeswax

Firmness & heat stability

  • Raises the blend's firmness and structural integrity.
  • Helps the candle remain stable in warmer conditions.
  • Supports a longer, steadier burn profile.
  • Adds substance to the finished wax and melt pool.
  • Balances the naturally softer coconut component.

The Customer Experience

The reasons you can see, smell, and feel

The blend is not chosen for one headline benefit. It is chosen for the full life of the candle—from the first look at the wax to the final properly managed burn.

01

Care-supported burn performance

A steady, well-managed burn depends on wick selection, trimming, draft control, vessel design, fragrance, and session length. No candle is soot-free, and visible smoke or soot should be treated as a care or wick-performance signal.

02

Longer, measured burn

Coconut wax and beeswax are naturally slow-burning materials, while soy helps balance the melt pool. The final burn time still depends on vessel size, wick, fragrance, and care.

03

Strong cold throw

The candle can share its fragrance before it is lit, allowing you to experience the scent whenever you pass it in the room.

04

Rich hot throw

Once the melt pool develops, the blend is designed to release fragrance gradually and evenly rather than all at once.

05

Smooth, creamy appearance

Coconut wax softens the visual finish, soy adds body, and beeswax adds firmness for a candle that looks substantial and refined.

06

Balanced melt pool

The three-wax structure gives us more control when matching a fragrance, vessel diameter, and wick for an even burn.

07

Heat stability

Beeswax helps strengthen the softer coconut and soy components, improving the blend's stability during storage, shipping, and warmer seasons.

08

Wick versatility

The blend can be tested with lead-free cotton wicks or premium wood wicks, allowing the vessel and fragrance to guide the final flame experience.

09

Fragrance flexibility

Fresh, floral, gourmand, woody, smoky, and atmospheric fragrances behave differently. A blended wax gives us more room to tune each scent individually.

10

Small-batch consistency

Working in small batches gives us closer control over temperature, fragrance incorporation, pouring, cooling, and cure time.

11

Plant-derived foundation

Coconut and soy waxes are plant-derived materials. Beeswax adds a natural animal-derived component that strengthens the blend.

12

A more complete ritual

The goal is not simply to make wax burn. It is to create a candle that looks beautiful, carries fragrance well, burns steadily, and feels intentional in your home.

From First Light to Final Burn

Beautiful performance is a system—not a single ingredient.

Wax matters, but so do wick selection, fragrance load, vessel diameter, cure time, room temperature, and how the candle is burned. Every Phoenix Crafted formula is evaluated as a complete system.

Before lighting

A smooth appearance, stable wax, and a noticeable cold fragrance impression.

During the burn

A controlled flame, developing melt pool, and fragrance released into the room.

After extinguishing

A wax surface that cools and resets naturally, ready for the next properly timed burn.

Ingredient Transparency

What natural wax does—and does not—mean

Premium candle making should be honest. These details help set accurate expectations for a handcrafted wax blend.

Natural variation is normal

Minor frosting, surface texture, color variation, or adhesion changes can occur in natural wax. These cosmetic differences do not automatically indicate a performance problem.

No candle is soot-free

Every flame creates combustion by-products. Wick trimming, burn time, airflow, vessel care, and product-specific instructions all affect visible smoke and soot; no wax alone makes a candle soot-free.

The finished candle is not only wax

Our candles also contain premium phthalate-free fragrance oil and a cotton or wood wick selected for the formula.

Beeswax is not vegan

Because the blend contains beeswax, Phoenix Crafted candles made with this formula are not vegan products.

We do not claim air purification

We do not market candles as detoxifying, air-purifying, or emission-free. They are fragrance products and should be burned responsibly in an appropriately ventilated space.

Care determines performance

Even the best wax cannot correct an untrimmed wick, a drafty location, an overly long burn, or a candle left burning without supervision.

Protect the Burn

Four habits that help the blend perform its best

  1. 01

    Trim before every burn

Keep the wick near 1/4 inch unless the product instructions specify otherwise. Remove loose char before lighting.

  2. 02

    Build the first melt pool

Allow the wax to melt close to the vessel edge on the first burn without exceeding the recommended burn window.

  3. 03

    Burn for 2–4 hours

Short burns can encourage tunneling; overly long burns can overheat the vessel and enlarge the flame.

  4. 04

    Protect it from drafts

Keep the candle away from fans, vents, open windows, children, pets, and anything that can disturb the flame.

The Phoenix Crafted Difference

Every ingredient has a purpose. Every candle is tested as a whole.

Our coconut soy and beeswax blend is the foundation, but the finished experience comes from how that wax is paired with fragrance, wick, vessel, cure time, and careful hand-pouring in our North Carolina studio.
